Worth the splurge!

Ok let me say that I am a girl who likes her luxury. Wether it is travel, that bag with the beautiful design or that one pair of shoes that is comfortable and exactly in your style is what I consider to be worth the splurge. Of course these are a splurge – that is worth it. Guilt free and something that is worth the money it costs – which usually end up on the high end of the scale.

The high cost might give you a pause and a lot of hesitation however these items are usually not ones that provide instant gratification but rather give back on your investment over long periods of time.

Starting a new work? You need to buy the proper professional wardrobe with quality in mind – that can cost you a full paycheck if not more. Your image is the first thing that anyone sees and you need to look like you’re confident in your abilities so that your boss can give you responsibilities that you look like you can handle it. So those shoes, suits and blouse that fit but costs a bit more? Buy it, buy them with confidence- they are your best friend.

Can I say traveling? Now when I say travel I don’t mean you splurging on a 5 star hotel, buying tickets and packages at their full price but rather for the experience- are you in Thailand? But the elephant ride is a bit costly? Check online and think about if you will regret it. Will you be back anytime soon? No? Then do it despite the cost because come on a ride on an elephant… amazing memory right here.

Ok, now onto shopping for real. That bag and those shoes? If it is the style you want with the quality you are looking for. Buy it, buy it now because finding those are rare, and you will look back and regret it. The bag is multi purpose, one you will use for a long time and has a great value? Worth the splurge. You get all your investment back two fold. You can bring it everywhere- again quality vs quantity here. Same with shoes too. There is an item that you use everyday- you need to be comfortable, look good –  in your professional and personal life.

did I answer the question here? Or did I just babble on… please tell me to stop if you don’t think it’s good in comments and if you did like it say so…. I’m super friendly… introvert.

Something pretty to look at.

Online shopping vs In Store shopping – which should you choose?

I blog about, fashion, design, food, travel and whatever else catches my fancy and for this weekend I thought about shopping. My best friend is graduating and has ordered a dress from her favorite online store, but has back ups if necessary for the big day, but options right? This got me thinking about shopping.

IMG_1269

I would like to say that I’m all for technology and options but online shopping is just not for me. I prefer to be able to see the clothes, try it on, feel the fabric and walk around a bit before buying anything. However there is something called online shopping and my friends love love love it. They have more options, more size availability and even a hassle free way to do  quick shop and get on with your day without taking the full day.

I’m still convinced that in store shopping is the best way to shop for clothes so I have made a pros and cons list for both.

Why shopping in store is ….Better?

1. As I mentioned earlier, you can try on an outfit, what looks good on other might not on you after all. When you buy that outfit you know that you are getting what looks good on you, and that it fits you perfectly.

2. This is considered the reliable method, despite the booming sales in online stores, a massive 85% of people still prefers to shop in the old brick and mortar stores. That many people can’t possibly be wrong right?

3. The instant gratification. Come on you buy it and you have it, while online shopping is a bit annoying as you have to wait days, sometimes longer if it gets lost, and don’t even mention having to organize where you can pick it up – work, home? Can you pick it up from the mailman if you’re at work at that time? So many uncertainties there for me…. 🤔

4. Have you signed onto a sit for something and get constant spam email. Everyday, every morning and before you sleep. Can I say annoying? With in store there is no such things so hurrah.

5. Now you can’t really drunk shop can you? Specially in store, can you imagine having access to the shops, when you’re drunk and imagine the bill the next morning… 😅

Is online shopping better?

1. You can control how much you’re buying. Impulse control girl!! That way you know to stay within your budget.. at least that what they say. I don’t know how…I feel like he more sales you see the more likely you’ll buy…maybe that’s just me…meh.

2. Convenience. You can do this anywhere, anytime. No hassle, no nothing. You can buy that dress from home in your pjs while eating ice cream if necessary. Or at work in your coffee break because you need a treat right now. You don’t have to spend the whole day shopping for that one item.

3. Remember that loud crying kid, and the overwhelming crowd rushing into the store for sales? Yeah me too.. but here with online shopping you don’t have to be squeezed in a crowded place, at the back of a long snake of a line whether it’s at the queue, or the changing rooms.

4. The variety you get is so much better! You practically have the whole world as your shopping center here…

IMG_1273

Even after the long list I still haven’t made up my mind yet. I guess it’s all about moderation right? I might still prefer in store shopping though for more obscure ones, or books (safe option) I would go for the online stores.

Which do you prefer?

Shopping, sharing, shrinking – what do they have in common this week?

This week I ask a question – I’ve done shopping, sharing and shrinking what do these activities have in common?

Clothes.

I know, a weird topic but let me explain. I receive my salary (wages etc.) weekly. Quite a nice sum, but still by the time I’m sitting here, I’m broke, three clothing shorter and somehow my work shoes for tomorrow not available for show? How, you ask my lovely reader? Well, I happen to live with my sister. With only 2 years apart we pretty much share everything except the intimates – undies and bras, we even have the same shoe size. Just adorable right? No.

So to start of the week. I gave back all the money I owe her for since the beginning of the year, even though she hasn’t paid back a dime for any of the money she owes me. Now I’m broke because I did the groceries, shopping for myself and my hobbies – i.e: photos, painting, sketching, reading etc.

screen-shot-2016-11-01-at-14-32-40We share clothes because we have similar taste in clothes, though we do wear them completely differently. So the new shoes I just bought last week is being booked by my sister for tomorrow – so I’ll probably borrow hers, right? I cycle, she walks, her shoes does not support my lifestyle – so I’ll have to bring a change of shoes as well.

I have a cold from last week, I mentioned in my last post, and I would like to wear the warm sweater, but she washed it and now they’ve all shrunk!! Like the last time she washed them she shrunk them and the time before that, and now this time she washed all the sweaters and have sadly shrunk all of them…My life!

So now I’m beginning my week, shoeless, sweater-less, and moneyless until midweek. Bleh.

If you’re beginning to suspect that I’m bipolar, I’m sorry, not true. I have wanted to rant all day, so this is it. I know positivity is the key so here are my tips to regain your balance when things just build up!

  1. For every one thing that annoyed you today, think about two more things that you are grateful for. Me and my sister went to this library with great architecture and spent half the day sketching!
  2. For every annoying thing that happens make sure to do something that will make you happy. Web site building meeting for an Arts event that is happening in Dublin this week!
  3. Before you sleep make sure to end the day happy no matter what! After all a night spent frustrated and angry will not make you a happy camper – is that how the saying goes? (no, I know – just wanted to put it in there.)

Alright I think I will end this here. Sorry for the rant like long post. If you don’t like these types of post tell me, or you can tell me if you like it and I will continue these long posts too.

Ciao!

Pursuit of perfection in love – Appreciation.

I’m writing a short list of people I want to thank. Not because I wanted to thank someone but because I just felt like I want to end with a small high note end for the lovely week – even though I caught a cold, still had to cycle to work in the rain and that time of the month came at 4 a.m in one week, just because. By the way feel free to note if I’m over sharing, I can never really tell?

Wild hair day

Road trip – wild hair with my lovely phone that I lost 😅😅

The first being my fellow blogger I started following recently and nominated me for a blogger recognition reward list! I know this is silly but I just wanted to thank her, as it the first time for me. So thank you Orianasnotes. I know it is a little late but just wanted to say thank. xoxo

Another person I would like to appreciate, just because I’m in the mood is to my lovely sister, Mia. She is always the one to push me, the one to bug me, annoy me and inspire me. So love you! Of course I want to continue with including my cousins Enerel and Tsenguun, because I feel like I should?

To continue with the theme, I would like to thank my followers and my fellow blogger who follow me, just because this blog feels like a way to get some parts of me out there. I’m a very introverted person in real life so this would be my hobby, passion, thoughts all in one go, so to know that people do read, like and comment on them makes me feel just a little bubbly inside.

Now to the last, but not least:

This is the month for declaring appreciation and love for those ones that we love and have been with us – our parent(s)?

Not to say they’re perfect but they did raise us, when they were home for it. They’re views are not exactly like mine but their lifestyle is now ever present in my life – when I’m looking for relationships ( or lack thereof) cooking food, making the bed, leaving the house – small things that we learned through observation. I love them and this is my small note of appreciation, because I do realise that I’m part of the small percentage of the population that is privileged – and I’m here because of their hard work. Even though their small habits bug me to death half the time.

Muses in fashion & arts.1 in a 7 billion.

For my wonder readers, please excuse my ramblings; this is just my random stream of 💭 thought.

What do you do when you’ve run into  a wall? Do you trudge on and continue until you get back into the “groove”? Do you go for a long walk by the river side, warm beaches, take a night out with you friends and recharge? Where do you find your muse?

Searching for inspiration is tiring – would you even call it inspiring when you had it under pressure? For me I loved nature – the sun, the sea, the mountains, the hills; everywhere and nowhere, you name it I likely loved it. This is usually reflected in my art and fashion style- I love things that look natural, the shade, the flow, the fluidity; the genuine article.

After all the original body lifted into a higher being is not the original it rather a distortion, so do I have to find it amazing and inspiring? For me, the answer is no. I love it, I hate it – it’s only my opinion, I can do what I please with it, right? So does this stand mean that this unique experience is my identity, my muse even?

So would Mother Nature then be my muse? I wish. It takes its anger out on me every month, I don’t think it is happy to be my muse if so.

Ha, I still can’t force pen and paper together, unless the mood hits me. All I can write is that when there’s a writers block, accept it, find something beautiful to be inspired by. Write a synopsis; something short, ugly and utterly your feelings; Maybe it will dissolve?

Art allows you to show how you perceive the world around you because no one else in the world looks at it exactly like you!! So even just writing about that is utterly unique and you. So be proud, loud and walk a little brighter because let’s face it there is noe else in this world of 7 billion like you, right?

so here’s me with my random points of blubbering….

thread softly, because you thread on my dreams

Writers block, daydreaming and fashion rules

“I’ve never seen someone wear chinos with tights before. Isn’t that against the rule of fashion?”

Is it? I’ve been stuck on what to write about when this question suddenly hit me. Is there a rule for fashion, and if so who set them? Why? Society? But aren’t the fashionistas the rule breakers, the futurists, the Visionary; the ones that don’t follow the rules, but follows their heart and artistic inspirations? Is there a rule to follow?

Finally, after that riveting opening, please excuse my long delay from blogging here. There is really no excuse, just a long stint of writers block on poor old me.

Wild hair day

Road trip dreaming

When I think of designers, influencers and even the everyday fashion magazine reader I think of us as the artist 👨‍🎤 of our image. How we dress, how we walk, how we are – they all say something about us, so if there are rules aren’t we wearing a uniform? I for one, have never really read the terms and conditions, the rules or even the guides….which I guess says something about me..to the point I just can’t justify following rules about fashion…it is mine, my clothes, my body, my expression of myself so why do I need to follow some random rule? After all if you look through history there were some crazy fads throughout, am I right? Like come on people, why would you put bird poop on your face?

Sincerely,

Your utterly apologetic blogger.

The New Vintage!

Can we talk about the sweatshirts, t-shirts and the vintage outfits running down on every designer catwalks? Because I have some great vintage clothes. Then I see that they don’t really want vintage. They look vintage, combined with some of the more modern patterns of floral and new personalities of the 21st century, they are not in actuality vintage.

So what do I do? I will buy the new accessories, match it with some vintage and then walk the street feeling great?  Have some great long coat and you are effortlessly chic. All I want to say is that this season is the one for me.

Fashion Hacks – Introduction

Hi everyone!

We all know what we like to wear, where we like to shop, how to hunt for the best bargains and even digging up some clothes from way back that is in season. Here is 5 Fashion Hacks that will give you that satisfaction you get when you get an amazing deal!

  1. Keep everything, even that one that keeps bugging you every time you look at it.

Now I know. The minimalists are probably planning to murder me right here but hear me out! Look at what is in fashion – the 90’s. Chokers, denim skirts, the blocky colours etc. Now that just shows that fashion cycle around. Keep your clothes. Pack it up once it is out of season and keep it for when it comes around again! Now you have actual vintage and no need to fork out the big buck!

  2. Keep your clothes in tip top condition, after all we all like to look crisp and suave.

Depending on the fabric and how often you wear them, you need to wash them often. Now the trouble begins when you wash it either too often or incorrectly. Follow the instructions on the clothes. A good tip is to wash them in cold water, with as little detergent as possible. I know dry cleaning is attractive to use to clean everything, but don’t do it too often! The harsh chemicals will ruin your clothes much quicker.

Fold/Hang your clothes. Woollen sweaters, Cashmere fabrics, leather and other fabrics that are sensitive- they should be folded don’t hang! – They will drag the fabric and ruin the shape/form etc. Hang the coats, shirts, dress skirts, trousers etc. A good hanger will help keep the form/shape of the clothes.

Keep a rotation going. Don’t wear one thing too much. Wear them in rotation to give your clothes a rest in between. The easiest tip yet!

  3. Quality over quantity as the saying goes

I know I know. The obvious but with all the money you are saving, buying the better quality will be so much easier right? The quality does not necessarily mean breaking the bank but rather shop wisely. Shop around, check the fabric quality – don’t be fooled by the name, check where it was made etc. Not only will the better quality last longer but will be much friendlier to your skin. You will notice how it is softer, last longer etc.

  4. Move over summer winter is here! Where am I going to put everything?

This is the part you have to be careful. Storing for long period of time can be dangerous for your clothes if not done properly. Research properly before you do anything. Make sure everything is airtight if in a box – fungus can grow anywhere! Infestation alert! Try using unused luggages, clear plastic bags etc.

Pack loosely if you don’t want to crease. Hanging items can be stored in clear hanging plastics. Tips time! I recommend washing all garments before storing to remove dirt and protect against moth infestations. (Fungus/Moth depends on the humidity in your area.)

Wherever you store them, make sure the area is clean, dry, and well ventilated. That means no  attics and basements. Protect against insects and odours – use packets of lavender and/or rosemary.

  5. Crease free life for the go! I hate ironing, but it a necessity. Why? Here are some tips sot make it a touch easier.

Ironing clothes is so hard! It is terrifying. What if you burn it? What happens when you create creases, what happens if it becomes itchy? Well here are some quick tips. Use an ironing board. That is not an option. It will make a huge difference. They’re wrapped in special material that’s flame retardant and breathable, i.e. steam is able to escape from underneath the item you’re ironing. Nifty right?

If you don’t have the more modern versions of an iron where you have the option of spraying water/mist while ironing keep a spray bottle filled with clean water near you. Preventing the burning is that much easier.

If you are however in a pinch – put your clothes on a hanger, while showering the steam will help remove the creases.

How to survive a long haul flight.

Can we all say that we love travelling? Seeing new places, faces, sights, food and so on.
However one of the things that we will all have to endure is the long haul flight. For those that get air sick? Good luck!

For this short post I will be blogging about how to survive the long haul flight to you chosen destination.

  1. Stay Healthy

A human being is not made to sit still for long periods in one go. So walk up and down the aisle. Stretch. Do arm, joint, neck etc exercises in your seat.

Drink lots of water. Staying hydrated before, during and after is important too! Less caffeine the better. Bring a water bottle – you know when you have to go through security you have to throw away anything liquid on you? Well bring tea bags, some instant coffee etc. You can refill along the way. Nifty right?

The plane is cold. Bring some fluffy socks and a jumper. Chances are long haul flights will go through a night cycle so you will feel somewhat chilly. Wearing comfortable clothes is vital here.

Try to bring something that will  help you sleep. Wether it’s a neck pillow, a sleeping pill, or a thick book you will need some help sleeping upright.

  2. Distraction for the long hours

There will always be loud noises on the plane, whether it be from noisy children, loud people in general or the general noise of large mass of people within a confined space screen-shot-2016-11-17-at-17-41-54for a long time. Get yourself some noise cancelling earphones. These are life savers. Life Savers.

On that note bring your USB too. Most long haul flights will have a plug connector. You should be able to charge your phone, tablet etc. while on your journey.

  3.  Take note!

Have a pen at hand! It might seem a bit ridiculous to mention it but when you are crossing borders (hello? Long flight?) there will always be entry/exit information that you need to fill in. A pen is always useful.

  4. Carry on luggage.

Now I know that putting in that extra kilo of shopping into your carry on is looking very attractive, but leave it in the luggage case. In you carry on you shouldn’t have anything too heavy. Something extra on your carry on can mean less legroom for you – and after fifteen hours you will wish you didn’t bring it on.

Some books, phone, tablet, earphones, toiletries etc. Some stuff that will help you pass the time.

  5. Be Safe.

Now, I know when you are tired and grumpy from being squeezed into a tiny place with lots of people can be annoying but that is just it. You are in a public place. Keep your money, purse, identification, bag etc. safe. If your have a backpack, a gym bag etc as you carry on. Put it in the overhead – that’s fine.

Make sure you have a small bag as well though – for your identifications, tickets, money, cards etc.

Cheers and have a fun flight! Maybe if you have some tips of your own write it down?

A Bag Lover’s Guide – Types Pt1

  1. Luggage Case

Considering that everyone likes to travel – wether it’s a trip, moving, camp, stay-cation or vacation we can all agree that what we need is a luggage bag. Preferably with four wheels that go all directions, a handle that does not get stuck and lightweight so we can use it for maximum effectiveness.

I really don’t think we need to deliberate on exactly what it is and how it is one piece that everyone has.

  2.  Clutch

For those of us that have phones, purses, and a spare lipstick for a refresher this is a crucial one for a night out! Going for an art gallery, museum, movies and even just hanging out with your mates, this is a piece that most of us have, and for some of us need in our lives.

It can dress up an outfit or make a statement – some of those arts (studs anyone?) and graphics – to finish an outfit. Maybe even start a conversation even.

  3.  Bag-pack

Now the less we say about this the better right? Let’s just say we all remember having to carry a bag-pack to and fro from school, wether it was filled with books, food, or anything else is not in question here. Just that we all had it.

screen-shot-2016-11-08-at-21-02-52Now the question isn’t for the bag-pack from our childhood but rather the one we use for hiking, back packing, globe trotting. The one that will contain our lively hood once we start our tour of the world, one city at a time – back packing across the globe.

  4.  Gym bag

Your gym bag is a daily struggle. There are countless blogs and post dedicated to packing your gym bag. There are gym owners, fitness fanatics and personal trainers that have logged hours into the gym and have hit a snag here and there.

It need to be light, have space for extras, your gym outfit, towels, extra chargers, water bottles. Need I go on?

  5. Minaudiere

screen-shot-2016-11-13-at-13-39-01 That is to say – the perfect companion for a  night out. Cute, perfect and will hold your  lipgloss, ID, and even some cash for the ride home! You can dance with it and is not too big that you need to hand it over in the cloak room!
    Can we say anymore here?
