Worth the splurge!

Ok let me say that I am a girl who likes her luxury. Wether it is travel, that bag with the beautiful design or that one pair of shoes that is comfortable and exactly in your style is what I consider to be worth the splurge. Of course these are a splurge – that is worth it. Guilt free and something that is worth the money it costs – which usually end up on the high end of the scale.

The high cost might give you a pause and a lot of hesitation however these items are usually not ones that provide instant gratification but rather give back on your investment over long periods of time.

Starting a new work? You need to buy the proper professional wardrobe with quality in mind – that can cost you a full paycheck if not more. Your image is the first thing that anyone sees and you need to look like you’re confident in your abilities so that your boss can give you responsibilities that you look like you can handle it. So those shoes, suits and blouse that fit but costs a bit more? Buy it, buy them with confidence- they are your best friend.

Can I say traveling? Now when I say travel I don’t mean you splurging on a 5 star hotel, buying tickets and packages at their full price but rather for the experience- are you in Thailand? But the elephant ride is a bit costly? Check online and think about if you will regret it. Will you be back anytime soon? No? Then do it despite the cost because come on a ride on an elephant… amazing memory right here.

Wardrobe

Ok, now onto shopping for real. That bag and those shoes? If it is the style you want with the quality you are looking for. Buy it, buy it now because finding those are rare, and you will look back and regret it. The bag is multi purpose, one you will use for a long time and has a great value? Worth the splurge. You get all your investment back two fold. You can bring it everywhere- again quality vs quantity here. Same with shoes too. There is an item that you use everyday- you need to be comfortable, look good –  in your professional and personal life.

did I answer the question here? Or did I just babble on… please tell me to stop if you don’t think it’s good in comments and if you did like it say so…. I’m super friendly… introvert.

Cheesecake – pure indulgence recipe!

I realise that I have not posted in April so to make up for it cake! Cake for everyone! Sweets are the bandaid to our soul…(づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ

So this is a simple  delicious cheesecake – that is no bake, simple and the easiest! Just make sure to do it the day before, so you can leave it to set over night in the fridge. Now back to business.

IMG_1267

My cheesecake is in squares. Hurray! for squares \(^ω^\)

Ingredients:

For the base of the cheesecake:
150gm of digestive/shortbread biscuits
42.6gm of butter (melted)
43.75gm of sugar

Cheesecake part:
Now here is where you can play around:
200gm of cream cheese
62.5gm of caster sugar
1/2 lemon juice
120 ml of double cream (whipped)
Depending on how indulgent you want you can add another 200gm of cream cheese and mix it with – passion fruit/melted chocolate/Nutella! etc

Steps now:

  1. Crush and mix the base part. i.e: Biscuits, butter & sugar, into fine crumbs. Press the mixture into the bottom of the tin and leave it in the fridge to set.
TIP1! Try and use a loose bottom cake tin, if this is not something you have at hand – use your normal cake tin, just line it with baking paper. After setting it you should be able to easily slide it out from underneath the cheesecake (biscuits base?…)
  2. Now onto the cheesecake part! Mix the sugar, cream cheese and lemon juice (vanilla extract if you don’t want to use lemon juice) in a clean bowl and beat until smooth. Seriously, until you cant feel the sugar grains (if you don’t want to touch test – until you can’t see it anymore)
  3. Now you have to whip the cream until it doubles in size in another bowl. Take one third and gently fold into the cream cheese mixture from earlier – the air come from the whipped cream so please remember – be gentle. Take another third and fold  in and the final third and fold it in. (if you want to add passion fruit/chocolate/Nutella this is the part you mix it in – just make sure it is do!)
  4. Now you pour the mixture over the biscuit base and gently tap the tin to fill in any air bubble.
  5. Leave it in the fridge over night and Voila! Creamy, indulgent cheesecake! Yum..

Eat, Share and Love it with you friends, family and guests…bring some over to work to share, or bring it over to a birthday party! \( ̄▽ ̄)/ Share the love..

I would just brink it into my room and eat it over a nice cup of fruit tea with honey…

Love and Long walks by the river side…cheesecake, anyone?

We are welcoming another month of the year 2017 today, May!

Spring is mid season and I have already started my plans for the summer – ok, let’s be real just some tentative plans at this point. I’ve checked my savings, started listing my expenses and can now plan a week or two of vacation. Somewhere I can hike, drink and eat till I explode while immersing in a new culture. Can’t wait! 🙂 Maybe if I’m feeling like it find someone to fall in love – after all Spring is the season to fall in love. Am I right? If I can’t I will take a passion fruit cheesecake with some lemon honey tea. Just as well. It’s the same.

Now, maybe it’s just me, but for me the new year starts and the old one ends in the Summer. A little quick to jump into the new season, but I will always look ahead with glee.. the schools are out, IMG_0602the sun is shining, and the whole world feels like it’s waking up!

<<Perhaps, that’s why I’m starting this blog post by welcoming the new month…when I haven’t done that before. Maybe I should start every month like so? Welcome to the new month!>> o.O

Longs walks by the riverside, sitting under the weeping willows by the docks, and biting into my spicy and flavour full lunch while laughing with my friends. Can I write anything more idyllic? I can’t help but think that summer is just that. The idyllic months of the year – where you can wear that dress, without feeling like the winds will freeze you, the sun is out for the longest time and the day never ends and the night is spent in the heat gazing into the light – wether it’s the stars, or the stage lights who can say?

I would love to take out that maxi skirt, and style a bohemian outfit for my day on Monday. Wear printed shorts, a simple shirt and blazers for Tuesday, pick up short skirts and long shirts for Wednesday and I can go on – it is the best! Even just to go out without a coat is good at this point 😉 I’m ready to get out from my hibernation and just enjoy the sunshine again!

My plans for the coming months? Quick weekends away, long hikes, and some serious music festival while couch surfing along the way….Who’s with me?

Shopping, sharing, shrinking – what do they have in common this week?

This week I ask a question – I’ve done shopping, sharing and shrinking what do these activities have in common?

Clothes.

I know, a weird topic but let me explain. I receive my salary (wages etc.) weekly. Quite a nice sum, but still by the time I’m sitting here, I’m broke, three clothing shorter and somehow my work shoes for tomorrow not available for show? How, you ask my lovely reader? Well, I happen to live with my sister. With only 2 years apart we pretty much share everything except the intimates – undies and bras, we even have the same shoe size. Just adorable right? No.

So to start of the week. I gave back all the money I owe her for since the beginning of the year, even though she hasn’t paid back a dime for any of the money she owes me. Now I’m broke because I did the groceries, shopping for myself and my hobbies – i.e: photos, painting, sketching, reading etc.

screen-shot-2016-11-01-at-14-32-40We share clothes because we have similar taste in clothes, though we do wear them completely differently. So the new shoes I just bought last week is being booked by my sister for tomorrow – so I’ll probably borrow hers, right? I cycle, she walks, her shoes does not support my lifestyle – so I’ll have to bring a change of shoes as well.

I have a cold from last week, I mentioned in my last post, and I would like to wear the warm sweater, but she washed it and now they’ve all shrunk!! Like the last time she washed them she shrunk them and the time before that, and now this time she washed all the sweaters and have sadly shrunk all of them…My life!

So now I’m beginning my week, shoeless, sweater-less, and moneyless until midweek. Bleh.

If you’re beginning to suspect that I’m bipolar, I’m sorry, not true. I have wanted to rant all day, so this is it. I know positivity is the key so here are my tips to regain your balance when things just build up!

  1. For every one thing that annoyed you today, think about two more things that you are grateful for. Me and my sister went to this library with great architecture and spent half the day sketching!
  2. For every annoying thing that happens make sure to do something that will make you happy. Web site building meeting for an Arts event that is happening in Dublin this week!
  3. Before you sleep make sure to end the day happy no matter what! After all a night spent frustrated and angry will not make you a happy camper – is that how the saying goes? (no, I know – just wanted to put it in there.)

Alright I think I will end this here. Sorry for the rant like long post. If you don’t like these types of post tell me, or you can tell me if you like it and I will continue these long posts too.

Ciao!

Forest floor

Pursuit of perfection in love – Appreciation.

I’m writing a short list of people I want to thank. Not because I wanted to thank someone but because I just felt like I want to end with a small high note end for the lovely week – even though I caught a cold, still had to cycle to work in the rain and that time of the month came at 4 a.m in one week, just because. By the way feel free to note if I’m over sharing, I can never really tell?

Wild hair day

Road trip – wild hair with my lovely phone that I lost 😅😅

The first being my fellow blogger I started following recently and nominated me for a blogger recognition reward list! I know this is silly but I just wanted to thank her, as it the first time for me. So thank you Orianasnotes. I know it is a little late but just wanted to say thank. xoxo

Another person I would like to appreciate, just because I’m in the mood is to my lovely sister, Mia. She is always the one to push me, the one to bug me, annoy me and inspire me. So love you! Of course I want to continue with including my cousins Enerel and Tsenguun, because I feel like I should?

To continue with the theme, I would like to thank my followers and my fellow blogger who follow me, just because this blog feels like a way to get some parts of me out there. I’m a very introverted person in real life so this would be my hobby, passion, thoughts all in one go, so to know that people do read, like and comment on them makes me feel just a little bubbly inside.

Now to the last, but not least:

This is the month for declaring appreciation and love for those ones that we love and have been with us – our parent(s)?

Not to say they’re perfect but they did raise us, when they were home for it. They’re views are not exactly like mine but their lifestyle is now ever present in my life – when I’m looking for relationships ( or lack thereof) cooking food, making the bed, leaving the house – small things that we learned through observation. I love them and this is my small note of appreciation, because I do realise that I’m part of the small percentage of the population that is privileged – and I’m here because of their hard work. Even though their small habits bug me to death half the time.

Muses in fashion & arts.1 in a 7 billion.

For my wonder readers, please excuse my ramblings; this is just my random stream of 💭 thought.

What do you do when you’ve run into  a wall? Do you trudge on and continue until you get back into the “groove”? Do you go for a long walk by the river side, warm beaches, take a night out with you friends and recharge? Where do you find your muse?

Searching for inspiration is tiring – would you even call it inspiring when you had it under pressure? For me I loved nature – the sun, the sea, the mountains, the hills; everywhere and nowhere, you name it I likely loved it. This is usually reflected in my art and fashion style- I love things that look natural, the shade, the flow, the fluidity; the genuine article.

After all the original body lifted into a higher being is not the original it rather a distortion, so do I have to find it amazing and inspiring? For me, the answer is no. I love it, I hate it – it’s only my opinion, I can do what I please with it, right? So does this stand mean that this unique experience is my identity, my muse even?

So would Mother Nature then be my muse? I wish. It takes its anger out on me every month, I don’t think it is happy to be my muse if so.

Ha, I still can’t force pen and paper together, unless the mood hits me. All I can write is that when there’s a writers block, accept it, find something beautiful to be inspired by. Write a synopsis; something short, ugly and utterly your feelings; Maybe it will dissolve?

Art allows you to show how you perceive the world around you because no one else in the world looks at it exactly like you!! So even just writing about that is utterly unique and you. So be proud, loud and walk a little brighter because let’s face it there is noe else in this world of 7 billion like you, right?

so here’s me with my random points of blubbering….

thread softly, because you thread on my dreams

Writers block, daydreaming and fashion rules

“I’ve never seen someone wear chinos with tights before. Isn’t that against the rule of fashion?”

Is it? I’ve been stuck on what to write about when this question suddenly hit me. Is there a rule for fashion, and if so who set them? Why? Society? But aren’t the fashionistas the rule breakers, the futurists, the Visionary; the ones that don’t follow the rules, but follows their heart and artistic inspirations? Is there a rule to follow?

Finally, after that riveting opening, please excuse my long delay from blogging here. There is really no excuse, just a long stint of writers block on poor old me.

Wild hair day

Road trip dreaming

When I think of designers, influencers and even the everyday fashion magazine reader I think of us as the artist 👨‍🎤 of our image. How we dress, how we walk, how we are – they all say something about us, so if there are rules aren’t we wearing a uniform? I for one, have never really read the terms and conditions, the rules or even the guides….which I guess says something about me..to the point I just can’t justify following rules about fashion…it is mine, my clothes, my body, my expression of myself so why do I need to follow some random rule? After all if you look through history there were some crazy fads throughout, am I right? Like come on people, why would you put bird poop on your face?

Sincerely,

Your utterly apologetic blogger.

My New Year’s Resolution!

The last few weeks have been spent between relatively being frozen in my room and juggling my need to move constantly.  One thing that I’ve become obsessed with early spring (?) cleaning. From digging into my wardrobe to welcome the new year with open arms to fighting dust balls hiding under furniture in the corners. I think that is enough of what I’ve done so far in the month of December. Please excuse the lack of update in the month of December from me. Thank you.

With that long intro; Welcome to the year 2017 ladies and gentleman! With amazing movies, songs, art and fashion in the coming months it is already looking so good *squee*

I’ve never believed in the New Years Resolution, but this year I thought I might just start this, and see how long I will last! A challenge to myself. Rather than just focusing on productivity and health I want to focus on the fun thing in life.

  1. Music! I think we can all agree that music is the part of life that can give you the joy – we have all at one point had thought if only we had music effects like movies in our life. Wether we go running, groceries and even shopping – it can make all thing in life much more fun or in some cases endurable. *wink wink*

    DSC_1246

    Streets in rain – Europe

  2. Arts – Ok, lets take a step back and admit that I actually went to gallery opening, helped out backstage, did some of the research, to the local museums, theatres, musicals etc. However, I still feel like I should have visited more galleries – so far I’ve gone through galleries in London, Paris, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Dublin etc. But this time I will sit down in one of these galleries and take the time, or something. I think we can all agree that arts is one of the important parts of culture so yes visit more of these  places and maybe as a throwback to kinder garden do a full on report on the blog – after all we don’t want to forget about them so quickly do we?
  3. Languages – Now this is something that will show results within the first few months. I think I will make steps in this plan, maybe up my ante on the French language – try a blog post in one? Maybe something on singers – Edith Piaf, anyone?
  4. Fashion – This is the one that I think everyone is interested in. For now I think my goal would be to watch all the catwalks of the next seasons. Sketch some of the models and clothing, and at least learn to appreciate one item of clothing outside my comfort zone. Another would be to get some of my suits to be refitted.

    screen-shot-2016-11-17-at-17-36-30

The open sky from my window.

  5. Last but not least go somewhere hot this year! Maybe it is just the winter in Ireland thing but I’m starting to dream about sandy beaches with tropical sun, migrating sand dunes with crystal blue lagoons, and exotic colours and strange spicy food! Well here’s to the new year!

Does this sound like a to do list than a resolution to anyone else? No, just me?

As always thank you for the love, likes, and views!

Welcome to the year 2017 everyone, lets make it a great one!

How to survive a long haul flight.

Can we all say that we love travelling? Seeing new places, faces, sights, food and so on.
However one of the things that we will all have to endure is the long haul flight. For those that get air sick? Good luck!

For this short post I will be blogging about how to survive the long haul flight to you chosen destination.

  1. Stay Healthy

A human being is not made to sit still for long periods in one go. So walk up and down the aisle. Stretch. Do arm, joint, neck etc exercises in your seat.

Drink lots of water. Staying hydrated before, during and after is important too! Less caffeine the better. Bring a water bottle – you know when you have to go through security you have to throw away anything liquid on you? Well bring tea bags, some instant coffee etc. You can refill along the way. Nifty right?

The plane is cold. Bring some fluffy socks and a jumper. Chances are long haul flights will go through a night cycle so you will feel somewhat chilly. Wearing comfortable clothes is vital here.

Try to bring something that will  help you sleep. Wether it’s a neck pillow, a sleeping pill, or a thick book you will need some help sleeping upright.

  2. Distraction for the long hours

There will always be loud noises on the plane, whether it be from noisy children, loud people in general or the general noise of large mass of people within a confined space screen-shot-2016-11-17-at-17-41-54for a long time. Get yourself some noise cancelling earphones. These are life savers. Life Savers.

On that note bring your USB too. Most long haul flights will have a plug connector. You should be able to charge your phone, tablet etc. while on your journey.

  3.  Take note!

Have a pen at hand! It might seem a bit ridiculous to mention it but when you are crossing borders (hello? Long flight?) there will always be entry/exit information that you need to fill in. A pen is always useful.

  4. Carry on luggage.

Now I know that putting in that extra kilo of shopping into your carry on is looking very attractive, but leave it in the luggage case. In you carry on you shouldn’t have anything too heavy. Something extra on your carry on can mean less legroom for you – and after fifteen hours you will wish you didn’t bring it on.

Some books, phone, tablet, earphones, toiletries etc. Some stuff that will help you pass the time.

  5. Be Safe.

Now, I know when you are tired and grumpy from being squeezed into a tiny place with lots of people can be annoying but that is just it. You are in a public place. Keep your money, purse, identification, bag etc. safe. If your have a backpack, a gym bag etc as you carry on. Put it in the overhead – that’s fine.

Make sure you have a small bag as well though – for your identifications, tickets, money, cards etc.

Cheers and have a fun flight! Maybe if you have some tips of your own write it down?

A Bag Lover’s Guide – Types Pt2

  1. Satchel

Screen Shot 2016-11-14 at 22.21.58.pngThe satchel is something we can all agree that the modern student needs. The holy grail, that is satchel, has helped generations of uni students carry their daily load of heavy books, laptops and the pencil case to and fro in our daily lives. So how about a last hurrah for them, after you leave them behind for the glamour of the working lifestyle?

  2. Bucket bag

The bucket bag climbed the ranks of handbag fame last year, due in part to minimalist accessories designer Mansur Gavriel and in another  the growing DIY community, but now it is 2016, going on 2017, and you can’t walk into a retail store and not see a version of it in some form.

The bucket bag has a universally appealing shape: It is structured, but not too much, fashionable but not trendy, and the perfect size to carry around with you – not too large and not too big just perfect!

  3. Cosmetics bag

Whether you need a large bag for home or a small one for on-the-go, there is cute and versatile options available everywhere. Pretty much every brand, retail store, and drug store has one by the make up aisle.

From cute and chic to masculine with primary colours you can find it anywhere and for those of us that likes to travel often this certainly comes in handy.

  4. Envelope clutch
    envelope

Now, this bag is gorgeous. The fabric choices, the hand clappers, the minimalistic style – it is simple and elegant. I think this one is actually my favourite type out there. From the clutch style of Alexandre Wang to the floral printed ones by Jil Sander (As seen on the right side pic). Can I say, eye candy?

Match the envelope clutch with some matching heels you will look ready for that interview while looking classy as hell.

  5. Messenger Bag (Courier Bag)

“A type of sack, that is worn over one shoulder with a strap that goes across the chest resting it on the lower back.”

Simple to use and the classier version of a bag pack the sport brands such as Adidas and Nike certainly has taken advantage of the market available here.
